  9. manner. A typical use of SPOT is distribution of incoming news wires to
  10. executives who need to see those articles pertaining to their interest

  14. classification systems, as SPOT performs full text retrieval, matching every
  15. word and phrase of an incoming data stream against a potentially large number
  16. of user queries. The highly optimized sequential search algorithm employed by
  17. SPOT allows it to keep up with multiple input streams which would overwhelm
  18. other full text retrieval packages. For example, the search rate for a 32 team
  19. query on a 33 MHz platform can be as high as 1.4 MB per second
